Salesforce.com, the enterprise cloud computing company, has announced the availability of Force.com Sites, a new capability that expands the company’s cloud platform to deliver real-time websites and Web applications. With the addition of Force.com Sites, companies can now use Force.com to build and run applications for their internal business processes as well as public-facing websites - entirely on salesforce.com’s real-time cloud computing platform.
The availability of Force.com Sites will allow companies to build and run websites and applications in real-time without requiring any software or hardware infrastructure.

Websites built with Force.com Sites benefit from the security, reliability and scalability of salesforce.com’s real-time platform.
Companies can use use Force.com to build the database, using the security and sharing models to define what data and information to make public. They can then create the logic and business rules that drive the website. Going further, public-facing pages can be created with standard Web technologies like HTML, JavaScript, Flex and CSS. The next step for companies would be to register a Force.com sub-domain or they can use their existing corporate domain. They can then publish and run the site on salesforce.com’s real-time cloud platform and can even review the performance of the site and make changes in real time.
