Expand Networks, a provider of application acceleration solutions over the Wide Area Network (WAN), has announced the launch of two new WAN Optimisation devices for the data centre. The Expand 7930 Data Centre/ Large Branch Office and 7940 Data Centre Accelerators are HP-based appliances and have been designed to provide additional hard drive redundancy and storage capacity to meet the demands of the increasing number of larger data centre deployments.
The Expand 7930 and 7940 Accelerators have 512GB and 1TB storage respectively and RAID-5 (Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks) capabilities, to protect data from the loss of any one disk, to achieve higher levels of performance and complete redundancy in the data centre. In addition, the 7930 and 7940 deliver up to 100 and 250 Mbps respectively of optimised throughput.
“The 7900 Series Accelerators have been developed to provide the performance guarantees and redundant capabilities needed of WAN Optimisation devices to address the demands of increasingly complex data centre environments,” said Adam Davison, corporate VP, Sales and Marketing, Expand Networks. “In addition to the recent launch of our entry level Branch Office Accelerators, Expand Networks has a broad portfolio of scalable WAN Optimisation appliances to support all sizes of business in their key IT initiatives such as consolidation, virtualisation and mobile communications.”
The 7930 and 7940 Accelerators are available from November 2008.
