Enjay IT Solutions Ltd, the company behind Enjay ThinClient, has announced release of Enjay Tornado OS, a specialised embedded for ThinClients based on Linux for x86 platform.
ThinClient segment in India is growing fast, especially its widespread acceptance by SME Segment, and more with increasing popularity of cloud computing. However, there has not been any ThinClient OS, which can cater to varied and ever increasing demands of the market.
Enjay Tornado provides a Thin Client OS - which is basically an small footprint embedded thin client OS, but at the same time has some features of Desktop OS also, like support for most popular printers as well as 3G Dongles or motherboard chipsets.
Customers are now looking at ThinClients to reduce the license cost also. This is possible because there is increasing trend to use Browser based ERP / Accounting systems, ThinClient helps them to do this by providing latest browser, with printer support and also support for all kinds of networking support like Wifi, 3G for even remote offices.
Siddheshwar Parekh VP, Technical, Enjay IT Solutions Ltd. said, “Challenge in ThinClient Os is that on one hand you require small foot print embedded OS, which runs fast, and is read-only for most of the part, and on the second hand you want that to be very scalable to included local applications, like Java Client apps, or Browsers of even office suits. So we came out with Enjay Tornado OS, which aims to meet both these requirements”
Parekh added, “Nowadays, Thin Client hardware is available in India very easily, as imports for MiniITX Cabinets and MiniITX Motherboards have increased, however there is dearth of ThinClient Operating system. Enjay Tornado is specifically designed for benefit of these OEM Thin client vendors. Enjay Tornado has some unique feature like branding for OEM, as well as online portal for licensing for our OEM Partners. More than 11 partners across India have agreed to bundle Enjay Tornado OS along with their ThinClient hardware.”
