Dell has unveiled its comprehensive storage portfolio, expanding existing solutions with the recent global acquisitions to give customers the choice to build an integrated storage infrastructure using different technologies such as fibre or iSCSI to meet their needs in the virtual era. Reiterating this storage focus, Dell also announced the India availability of solutions from its recent acquisition of Compellent Technologies, Inc.
Understanding the need and importance of data management for the organisations, Dell brings a storage portfolio in the industry across DAS, NAS, SAN and back-up solutions and strong FC-based solutions. A key trend is the growth of iSCSI storage solutions, and in this fastest growing storage technology, Dell is playing a pioneering role with EqualLogic, to make storage simple, affordable and capable. EqualLogic’s iSCSI approach is of particular interest to medium sized businesses as it allows them the flexibility of larger enterprises, with simplicity of deployment and management, reducing cost and complexity.
Compellent’s Fluid Data technology combines a powerful data movement engine, intelligent software and modular hardware that can help cut costs up to 80 percent. The acquisition of Compellent complements Dell’s strategic acquisitions of EqualLogic, Scalent, Ocarina and Exanet by extending Dell’s key intelligent infrastructure tenants of automation, optimisation, scalability and virtualisation.
“Data is a strategic asset and protection of data has become a high-priority objective for enterprises, with the top priority for CIOs being cutting costs and achieving maximum storage flexibility & scalability. With the recent trends in the storage market, be it de-duplication, storage visualisation or data archival, all focus on allowing enterprises manage storage complexity issues better and reduce costs associated with managing old data while helping them take backups using less bandwidth. At Dell, we commit to provide next-generation storage solutions and proactive support that helps enterprise customers optimise and automate the management and protection of their data,” said John Joseph, Vice President, Dell Storage.
“Increasing usage of applications like e-mail, ERP, CRM and similar others have contributed to IT storage needs. With our recently acquired IP, Dell now offers complete storage solutions that enable customers to build the most rock-solid infrastructure possible - one that empowers users with information-driven applications and drives out cost and complexity from the IT room. We also see an opportunity to better serve our small and medium customers as they look for robust storage that helps them scale up and grow their business. Dell’s storage vision is in line with Dell’s enterprise strategy, to partner our customers to be competitive and meet market demands without sacrificing choice and flexibility,” said Vikas Bhonsle, General Manager, Large Enterprise, Dell India.
