The Challenge: IIHT delivers a range of courses within their 200 India-based training centers and provides outsourced e-learning programs to enterprise customers located across 19 countries. A critical challenge was to keep pace with the latest software versions and required infrastructure in line with growing market demands. IIHT required a highly scalable and effective cloud solution to help it meet this challenge.

“We can provide a cost-effective environment to train users on technology that provides an attractive pricing model for enterprise companies,” said Shivajee Sharma, President and CIO, IIHT Cloud Solutions Pvt. Ltd. “This is because we’ve managed to reduce the total cost of ownership of our cloud solution by 40 per cent primarily through the simplified management and provisioning using Software Defined Networking and a 45 per cent decrease in energy consumption from the reduced port density achieved with Dell Networking’s Active Fabric elements including Dell Networking Z9000 switches.”

A public cloud platform was needed in order to cope with a 65 percent spurt in customer base and spiraling costs associated with IT training delivery. With the cloud model requiring 1,000 servers in the data center, reducing port density was critical. IIHT needed an agile partner that was ahead of the market to ensure its leadership in Learning as-a-Service solutions.

Built on the combined strengths of Dell’s Networking, Server and storage capabilities the solution allows IIHT’s clients to build their own training programs without having to operate a private cloud. Dell was the chosen partner for its ability to reduce overall port density by 75 percent and switching environment by 90 percent. Dell’s innovations in Active Fabric and Z9000 switches enabled these critical requirements. To ensure continuous uptime for internal training centers and corporate clients, Dell ProSupport’s Next Business Day Service was deployed for the cloud solution.

Our networking and data center consolidation solutions with 10G/40G platforms coupled with Openflow SDN have significantly added value.”
