Dax Networks has executed an e-Governance project for Srei Infrastructure Finance, wherein Dax has networked 4,937 village kiosks in West Bengal through its partner. This project comes under the purview of Srei Sahaj e-Village, a subsidiary of Srei Infrastructure Finance.
In line with the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), Srei Sahaj e-Village is setting up over 20,000 Common Service Centres (CSCs) across the country, to bridge the digital divide between rural and urban India. A CSC is a village kiosk, a nodal point in a rural district that will serve as a delivery point of all technology-aided government services. Srei had chosen Dax Network's products to network its CSCs and the first phase of this project has been completed.
Subashini Prabhakar, chief technology manager, Dax Networks, said, "e-Governance is an important focus area for Dax. With its host of India-centric Networking Infrastructure solutions, Dax is well equipped to network rural India. Dax has deployed a comprehensive IP-based network for Srei's CSCs in West Bengal, enabling seamless video conferencing and voice and data transfers. Dax is proud to partner Srei Sahaj e-Village."
Technical Details of Deployment
In each village kiosk/ CSC, Dax has deployed DX-508PS switches with Dax Oryx cabling. DX-508PS is terminated with one Fast Ethernet port to the existing Wi-Fi WAN link. DX-508PS offers 'non-blocking', which is ideal for aggregating workgroups or connecting Ethernet and Fast Ethernet network devices.
Subhash Mohanti, vice president, Srei Infrastructure Finance, said, "Dax's networking solutions have effectively addressed the challenges posed by rural areas. The plug-and-play design of Dax's switches has helped ensure speedy deployment and hassle-free configuration. We look forward to partnering with Dax in the next phase of the project."
Srei Sahaj e-Village is planning to set up CSCs in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Assam.
