The Chinese knock-off market once again has captured the world attention. After fake iPhones, fake Rolexes its now the turn of Jaguar Land Rover’s Range Rover. In the world’s fastest growing car market, last week Chinese carmaker LandWind unveiled its new X7 at the cost of only 14,000 which looked suspiciously liked the 40,000 Range Rover Evoque.
A_Daily Mail_ reportnoted: “At first glance, the new car unveiled at a motor show appeared to be an updated model of the Range Rover Evoque. But in fact, it was a brazen copy of the hugely popular UK-designed ‘baby’ off-roader - and a fraction of the price.”
Ian Callum, a designer at JLR tweeted two pictures with the quote “New Land Wind from China. At Guangzhou auto show. Haven’t we seen this before somewhere?? "

Jaguar Land Rover said that it will complain to the Chinese officials over the X7
Jaguar Land Rover chief executive Dr Ralf Speth told _Autocar, “_The fact that this kind of copying is ongoing in China is very disappointing. The intellectual property (IP) is owned by Jaguar Land Rover and if you break that IP then you are in breach of international regulations.’
JLR recently invested around 1.08 billion to open a 1.3 lakh vehicles per year manufacturing unit in China along with local joint-venture partner Chery Automobile Co. The Chinese market accounts for 24 percent of JLR’s global sales
