The India Technology Centre (ITC) of Computer Associates (CA) has developed a mobile device management (MDM) product, which can manage an entire corporate mobile infrastructure from a single console.
MDM will provide large organisations with enterprise-level device management tools for the most popular smartphone platforms from companies such as Microsoft, RIM and Symbian.
Designed and developed entirely at ITC here, the product is scheduled for release next month.
The product, which has already been deployed at four active beta customer sites in the US, can manage different devices with different configurations.
It provides over-the-air management, device-independent consolidated asset inventory, configuration management, policy compliance and security management.
Underlining the significant usages of the product, Sridhar Parmili, vice- president, development, CA ITC, said that in the event of an employee of an enterprise losing his mobile device, the MDM can be used to lock the device to prevent the misuse of the data by the intruder. The product can also wipe out data if the mobile device cannot be recovered.
Based on the CA enterprise IT management (EITM) modular architecture, the product is integrated into CA’s business service organisation and eTrust products or can operate as a standalone management product for smartphones.
