Symantec has announced the launch of an India-only Hindi-English packaging for Norton Internet Security 2008 and Norton AntiVirus 2008. In addition, Norton Internet Security 2008 will also feature a new Norton Identity Safe to protect users’ identities when they buy, bank or browse online. The company has also optimised each product for greater performance, improved technical support and reduced user interruption.
“Our 2008 products bring valuable new protection technologies to block threats before they get a foothold in systems as well as significant performance improvements to make the end-user experience better than ever before,” said Vishal Dhupar, managing director, Symantec India. “To provide hassle-free computing and maintain the quality of experience for our paying customers, Indian consumers and resellers will be able to easily identify the genuine product as the box will be marked with a special floating image and wrapped in an India-only Hindi-English language packaging.”
The new products feature a browser defender that defends against drive-by downloads and other new or unknown threats that exploit vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer; one-click support that delivers the same convenient access to support options previously available in Norton 360; and home network feature that maps connected devices to provide a view of devices on the local network.
Additionally, both products include the SONAR behavioural detection technology that protects against malicious code before standard virus and spyware detection definitions have been created.
These products are designed for both Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista users.
