Why Would You Download?

Imagine the concept of download going extinct. If you can be connected 24x7 at office, home and in-between with phenomenal network speeds, why would you download? People are habituated to download because tomorrow I may not get the same speed as today. After the download, the user can watch the content at will. That is the prevalent psychology. Whatever you were storing on the desktop can now be stored on some website or e-vaults which some companies provide. And with the proliferation of smart devices, this has become even easier. So, if you are travelling abroad and happen to lose your passport, just go to the website where you have stored an image of it, get a print and take it to the embassy for a new one.

Data is increasingly being stored on websites rather than on desktops. I have watched a full length movie using 3G while travelling back home from office. I could have downloaded the movie and watched it in an offline mode but no more after 3G. With 4G promising much faster technology, the trend is only going to accelerate.

The advent of 3G has the ability to transform not only consumer technology, but also change the way enterprises work. 3G is going to change how client services are being rendered. It will make the laptops lighter, the same applies to tablets and other smart devices. Users will no longer have to store data on the resident device but only access it from a central location in real time. These upcoming technologies are going to change the way we work. Connectivity is not going to be an issue over a long term

However, we must not forget that 3G is still a limited technology. No telco has got a pan India licence, so the 3G services are still settling down. But, I feel that before it starts making an impact 4G will already be knocking the doors. Overall, it’s beneficial to the customers and enterprises alike as the costs will come down with the promise of good speeds and error-free network connections.
