Oracle has announced the availability of Pillar Axiom Release 5 Storage System Software. The software is available for Pillar Axiom 600 Storage Systems and is compatible with previous Pillar Axiom 500 and 300 storage systems, providing unparalleled investment protection and upgradability for all existing Pillar Axiom customers.
Pillar Axiom Release 5 Software is a major step forward in storage consolidation for Oracle Database, Oracle Applications, and cloud computing environments, helping to improve performance and streamline data management with the combination of its modular architecture, QoS, and new interface. It also simplifies management of multiple data types and application workloads with easy-to-use application profiles pre-tuned for Oracle environments.
With this new release, Pillar Axiom Storage Systems help lower the cost of enterprise storage, increase data security and data protection service levels, and allow users to scale system performance and capacity thresholds without disrupting operations.
Pillar Axiom Storage Domains help alleviate security, compliance and regulatory risks by allowing disparate customer, application, or workload data to be securely, physically separated in drive groups in a single storage array, while maintaining full data accessibility. This physical separation enables non-stop upgradability and provides true multi-tenancy, without the risk of co-mingling data on a single disk seen in other vendors’ offerings.
Pillar Axiom MaxMan enables management of multiple Axiom storage systems anywhere from a single Java-based interface. Pre-configured with storage management policy profiles for Oracle Databases and other business applications, MaxMan simplifies set-up and management and helps optimise application performance, even in global, complex multi-application environments.
Pillar Axiom MaxRep simplifies data mobility and migration and provides advanced data protection capabilities, moving data between multiple Axioms in a synchronous or asynchronous fashion, locally, remotely and even in multi-hop configurations – all while maintaining application consistency to meet challenging recovery point objective (RPO) and recovery time objective (RTO) service level agreements.
“Oracle’s Pillar Axiom Storage System has always differentiated itself from other storage solutions in two ways – through enterprise storage innovation and an unwavering focus on simplifying the customer experience,” said Mike Workman, senior vice president, Storage Solutions. “Today’s announcement enhances our patented QoS technology and enables customers to optimise the performance of Oracle Applications, Oracle Database, and Oracle Fusion Middleware that are supported by Axiom storage."
