Sybase iAnywhere has added mobile instant messaging (IM) and presence capabilities to its Information Anywhere suite, which addresses enterprise requirements for mobile e-mail, collaboration, security, device management and enterprise applications. The mobile IM and presence technology will address the demand of mobile workers for increased productivity and collaboration. Research firm Gartner predicts that by 2010, 90% of users with business e-mail accounts will have IT-controlled IM accounts. According to Gartner, “As IM traffic becomes increasingly higher in volume and potentially higher in value, organizations will need to adopt enterprise-class IM technologies, as well as IM hygiene services, to ensure efficient, integrated, reliable and secure use of IM technologies.
