Aksh Optifibre, has announced the launch of icontrol, its IPTV brand, in association with BSNL, in Jaipur. This will be the first IPTV (Interactive and Personalised Television) service in the state and Jaipur city and would revolutionise TV viewing. icontrol was launched in Delhi and Mumbai last month successfully.
icontrol is a television connection that allows the viewer to watch the programmes as per their convenience with more than 120 channels, and an extensive movie library with Hollywood and Bollywood titles at no extra cost.
Aksh’s icontrol is designed so as to enable consumers to control the television, to convert the idiot box into a utility box and establish two-way communication for the consumer. This means you request for a programme and you are delivered the same. The ‘i’ in icontrol stands for the interactivity factor currently non-existent in tele-viewing offered by other service providers like DTH or CAS.
G K Aggarwal, CGM (Rajasthan Circle), BSNL, said, “Our venture icontrol with Aksh Optifibre would help increase the reach of IPTV to six million homes”.
Dr K S Choudhari, MD, Aksh Optifibre, said, “The IPTV service expands the limited entertainment medium currently available with constrained choices. We are sure that our subscribers will enjoy the interactivity feature and power of ‘control over TV’. We also plan to launch icontrol in other big cities of Rajasthan within one month.”
“UTStarcom has made a long-term investment in and commitment to the success of IPTV”, said Vijay Yadav, vice president and managing director, South Asia Operations, UTStarcom. “This second time collaboration with Aksh for the launch of icontrol is a step towards fulfilling that commitment.”
