BMC Software has appointed Suhas Kelkar as the Chief Technology Officer for APAC. Suhas will be the first CTO for the region and will be based out of India. He also holds the position of Director of Innovation & Incubation, globally for BMC Software and he will continue to play that role. The formation of the regional CTO role indicates the growing importance of India / APAC to BMC Software and also the recognition of its technical contribution.
BMC Software has a strong R&D presence in India with over 50 per cent of total R&D workforce strength located in Pune, thus making it the largest R&D centre for BMC Software globally. Few years ago BMC Software decided to increase its focus on innovation and created a dedicated team and, thus, the Incubation team was formed, under Suhas’ leadership. As global director of this Incubation team, Suhas has been driving many strategic and forward-looking projects that are critical to BMC Software’s future success. In the last one year alone, he and his team have filed for six patents in the area of cloud computing.
In his new role as CTO for APAC, Suhas will represent CTO Office for the region, build stronger bonds with APAC customers and partners. Combination of the CTO role and Incubation team will also foster collaboration between BMC R&D and it’s rich partner ecosystem. Suhas has been with BMC Software for the past two years, and has been instrumental in building the incubation team from ground up which is spread in two countries, namely India and Israel. With industry experience that spans over 17 years, Suhas has worked with various software product companies and has developed a diverse experience of architecting, designing and delivering successful software products.
