Bartronics India, a provider of end-to-end-solutions based on AIDC technologies, has been awarded a contract worth Rs 400 crore for providing Smart Cards under the RSBY (Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana) scheme by ESIC (Employees’ State Insurance Corporation).
The scheme envisages to cover 6, 39,000 villages in 609 districts throughout the country. In the district-wise operation, approximately 100,000 beneficiaries-families would be covered in each district.
The concept envisages providing SCOSTA standard smart card solution to the target clients duly loaded with a treatment value for one year for enabling them and their family members to avail of the treatment at any ESI hospital or other hospitals with which ESI has made arrangements within that monetary ceiling.
The Smart Card would contain data of the individual and his family including biometrics in a 32K micro-chip embedded in the card along with the treatment value for the entire family. As per the system, when the individual would take treatment at the hospital, the spent up amount would be deducted from the Smart Card through appropriate reader-writer devices.
For the purpose of the whole operation, it is contemplated that Bartronics will carry out operations such as data-capturing, data-uploading, smart card preparation/ issue etc. and provide/ install card reader-writer devices at the specified ESI hospitals or hospitals with which ESI has made arrangements, maintain the same for certain/ specified period, provide training to ESI personnel in operations and offer other related assistance as may be required. Bartronics will also integrate the database/ operation with the main ERP being planned under the IT plan of ESIC and render all necessary technical co-ordination with the integrator at appropriate stages.
The smart card solution may also be extended to any other type of ESI beneficiaries (existing/ future).
