Avaya Develops Voice Resume Solution

Avaya GlobalConnect, a business communications solutions provider, has developed the Voice Resume solution, an integrated recruitment management solution customised to the ITeS industry. The solution facilitates quality large-scale hiring while reducing costs and physical travelling for interviews.

The business process outsourcing (BPO) industry in the country, which is expected to employ around one million people by 2008, is facing the challenge of finding quality human resources given the current attrition rate of around 50 percent. Analysts say attrition rates vary by 20 percent – 40 percent in some firms, while the top ones averages at least 15 percent. On the other hand, US recession has led to a boost in the domestic BPO market and organisations are looking at hiring even more to match up to the demand. The candidate pool is huge but skilled resources are too limited to meet the demand. The process of identifying, short listing, interviewing and selecting candidates is time consuming, hence, large HR staff for co-ordinating, scheduling interviews and evaluating applicants is required.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

Avaya GlobalConnect has developed the Voice Resume solution to address this dire need of the ITeS industry. When candidates apply to a company, a mail is sent asking them to call up a certain number. Then, with the help of an interactive voice response platform, the candidate is asked questions and the interview is concluded after asking the candidate to read a passage provided. The results are immediately forwarded to the HR team, which can assess the quality of interaction around communication ability, accent, mother tongue influence etc and take further action such as scheduling the next level interview or rejecting the candidate. Further, once the candidate passes through the voice resume stage, companies can leverage video conferencing and telephony solutions from Avaya for the final selection of the candidate, thereby, further reducing costs and the need for travel.

“Our aim is to understand the customer pain points and then develop solutions, which address our customers’ needs. This Avaya solution will enable companies to significantly save recruitment costs. The solution has generated interest and is already seeing traction in the ITeS sector,” said Ritesh Jayswal, director – Industry Solutions, Avaya GlobalConnect.

Other key features of Voice Resume include screening of candidates more efficiently, thereby, reducing their pre-recruitment processes; effective recruitment from multi-location and multi-language and increasing the pool size of talent. It enables remote access to recording for HR personnel from home/ after office hours. It is also useful for recruitment events like job fairs since volumes are high. ( www.moneycontrol.com)
