Worldwide enterprise mobility management (EMM) software market is in the midst of rapid change and consolidation as customers’ needs have shifted from device management to a broader set of requirements around application security and data protection.
According to the market analyst firm IDC, the EMM market has evolved to include a collection of technologies that span across the functional areas of endpoint management, policy management, identity, network security, data protection and management, application security, and application life-cycle management.

“To meet the changing demands of the end user, vendors are continually adjusting and expanding their product suites,” said Stacy Crook, research director, mobile enterprise research. “Because the mobile maturity of most customers remains relatively low, this is the perfect time for vendors to become aggressive and take advantage of the opportunity to unseat even some of the more established competitors.”
The IDC MarketScape report has placed six vendors - AirWatch, Citrix, Good Technology, IBM, MobileIron, and SAP - in the “Leaders” category for 2014, with five others - BlackBerry, LANDESK, SOTI, Symantec, and Trend Micro - recognised as “Major Players.”
