VMware, Inc., the virtualisation and cloud infrastructure solutions provider, has announced that A.P. Mahesh Co-operative Urban Bank has deployed the VMware Zimbra Collaboration Suite to help the bank take advantage of an enterprise-class email, calendar and collaboration solution. With 39 branches across the country, the Hyderabad-based A.P. Mahesh Co-operative Urban Bank Ltd. is a co-operative financial institution with diversified banking products. With growing complexity and limited support, administering multiple mail servers for the bank’s branches was a challenge.
“We have been successfully using VMware products that have helped us improve the performance and scalability of our IT environment, which has in turn enabled our business with the flexibility and agility we require in the banking sector,” said Umesh Asawa, Managing Director and CEO, A.P. Mahesh Bank. “As our operations grew, we were looking for a solution that could help us address the challenges we were facing with our existing mail environment and evaluated many options before deploying VMware Zimbra. The move to the Zimbra platform has helped us save on capital and operational expenses without compromising functionality,” he added.
A.P. Mahesh Bank deployed VMware Zimbra Collaboration Suite, an enterprise-class email, calendar and collaboration solution to replace its existing messaging solution that was growing complex to manage. The business-critical solution has also been deployed on VMware vSphere, the virtualisation and cloud infrastructure platform that can deliver high availability, disaster recovery and backup for the solution, helping protect it against hardware disruptions.

A feature-rich web client interface, open source integration, easy administration and built-in anti-spam and antivirus protection make Zimbra simple and easy to use. Customers in India have the option of deploying Zimbra either in their own datacentre or via a VMware vCloud partner who can host the application as a service.
