Actress-turned-director Pooja Bhatt and her husband Manish Makhija ended their marriage after 11 years of being together. Bhatt announced the break up on Twitter and described the split as amicable. This is probably the first time Bollywood witnessed a Twitter break up. Recently, Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan’s divorce was announced in a press release and director Anurag Kashyap made a media statement about his separation with wife Kalki Keochlin. The actress tweeted:
To all those who care & especially those that don't my husband Munna & Me have decided to part ways after 11 glorious years of marriage.

She also explained why she chose Twitter to announce the split and wrote:
The reason I explain Is because we are both part of the public domain. Our friends, well wishers & foes are free to now speculate. : )

The actress also thanked ‘intimate strangers’ for all their love and support and wrote:
Staggered by the love & support displayed by intimate strangers as well as the silence from most of my friends! Love you all!

The couple met on the sets of Bhatt’s film, Paap. Makhija is an anchor, actor and an assistant director. He also worked with Tahelka.com. Makhija has been a Bhatt camp staple for sometime and was associated with films like Paap, Rog and Dhoka. The actor also appeared in Huma Qureshi and Kunal Kapoor starrer Luv Shuv Te Chicken Khurana. Much before Ayushmann Khurrana and his Roadies mates made Haryanvi popular, it was Makhija who hosted a Channel V show, The Udham Singh Show, in his Haryanvi accent. Bhatt isn’t the first celebrity to announce her split on Twitter. Seal and Heidi Klum too, took to the social media site to declare their split, so did Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough.
