As Maharashtra went to polls today, several Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan made an appeal to the people of the state and the city of Mumbai to exercise their rights and vote for change. Salman Khan’s voting appeal to his fans was quite cool as the actor asked them to chose their leader the same way they select their girlfriends. “Just like you choose your girlfriend, your friends similarly you should choose your leaders… Go Vote,” the ‘Dabangg’ star said. Even megastar, Amitabh Bachchan tweeted about voting. Explaining the meaning of the word ‘vote’, megastar Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, “Vote comes from the Latin word Votum, which translates as vow, wish, promise, or dedication. Go Vote.”

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who is awaiting the release of his next film ‘Happy New Year’ said, “If you want your voice to be heard, if you want to be heard, if you want your city, your state, your country the way it should be… I think everybody should come out and vote.” Actor Abhishek Bachchan urged people to fulfill their duties as citizens by casting their votes. “I request all our fellow citizens to vote. This is our right, this is our duty. Please come out, please vote like I just have and do your duty. If you want to make a change in the society,” Abhishek said. Actor and son of former chief minster of Maharashtra Vilasrao Deshmukh, Riteish Deshmukh, said, “Stop whatever you are doing- Go vote. Get inked.” Singer Sunidhi Chauhan tweeted, “One vote could make all the difference. Please do vote.” Actor Varun Dhawan went to cast his vote along with his filmmaker father David Dhawan “Just got inked with my dad. Go vote,” Varun tweeted along side a picture with his father. ‘Kya Super Cool Hain Hum’ actor Tusshar asked people to vote in order to get a stable government in the state. “Make a difference, help the collective conscience bring a stable majority government to Maharashtra! Go Vote,” he posted on twitter. Filmmaker Punit Malhotra said, “Voted!And it literally took me five minutes to do so. Please go vote. It’s time for a change.”
