The villain’s minions are often the guys in the background, often restricted to at most a smart line before being disposed off by the hero. But when you’re the lovable yellow minions from Despicable Me, you get a movie named after you and the trailer of new film from the franchise confirms what we always believed, that they are more entertaining than their master Gru. While the trailer of Minions documents their evolution, it also shows how hard it has been for them to hold on to a master before Gru came along. In their search for the most despicable master, the trailer documents how the minions ran through a range of masters from the Tyrannosaurus Rex to Dracula thanks to some ‘minor’ errors. Screengrab from the new trailer.[/caption] The trailer is about the journey of three minions: Stuart, Kevin and Bob as they set out to rescue the minions from the boredom of not having a master and they land up in New York city in 1968 after a brief banana-related incident on a boat. The minions of the franchise (voiced by the frachise’s co-director Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud) have had more short films dedicated to them than perhaps any minion in Hollywood history, but then they haven’t disappointed so far. The voices of Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm, Allison Janney and Steve Coogan feature at some point in the film, though we wouldn’t be complaining if it was minion silliness all the way through.
According to IMDB though
, Gru isn’t completely out of the plot and is recruited to take on a new super-villain Scarlet (Sandra Bullock) and her husband Herb (Jon Hamm) who want to take over the world. Check out the new trailer here:
