Back in the ’90s, there was a cinematic gem called Raja Babu, starring Govinda. Govinda, who was Raja Babu in the film, had a wall full of photographs of his own fine self in various costumes. One showed him wearing a lawyer’s robe, another had him dressed like a pilot, so on and so forth. Judging from the poster-thon that PK is unleashing on us in order to whet our appetites in preparation for its December release, Govinda’s Raja Babu has nothing on Aamir Khan’s alien. [caption id=“attachment_1715243” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Courtesy: Twitter[/caption] The latest PK poster was launched on Tuesday and it shows Khan dressed as a policeman, wearing a uniform that is clearly too big for him, which is why his pants are bunched up and being held up by a belt. The only similarity between Khan’s look in the second poster ( read about it here ) and the first poster, which briefly revived urban India’s interest in transistors and generally took the virtual world by storm, are Khan’s ears. (Read about Aamir Khan's naked poster here). Those are ears that would make Spock’s eyes widen, we suspect. We can only hope that their prominence is a result of prosthetics, rather than being the natural state of Khan’s ears. The new poster also offers us a look at another PK cast member. The motion poster introduces us to PK’s “fraand”, the sousaphone-bearing Bhairo Singh (a much moustachioed Sanjay Dutt). PK asks audiences in the motion poster, “Phir tukur tukur dekothe ho? Confusiya gaye? Ae hum naahi hai." We’re not sure just what substance could lead to Khan thinking he could ever be mistaken for Sanjay Dutt, but never mind that. Dutt appears to be wearing the same band member uniform that Khan wore in the second poster.
After three poster launches, we know nothing about the story, but we do have some sense of the characters in PK and their sense of fashion (which seems to be a touch catastrophic at the moment). However, seven more posters of PK will be released, so perhaps some time soon, we’ll get some sense of the plot in Rajkumar Hirani’s newest film. Here’s what we do know so far. According to this video on Rediff, Anushka Sharma’s character in _t_he film is that of a journalist who is secretly (wait for it) a prostitute. Aamir Khan plays PK, who is an alien. Similarly, this video repeats the story of Sharma playing a journalist who is also a prostitute. The role of her boyfriend is being played by Sushant Singh Rajput, reportedly. None of this really explains why the title character would be standing naked on train tracks with a transistor attempting to salvage his modesty, so let’s hope poster number four and an actual trailer will come our way soon.
