Maserati re-enters the Indian market

Maserati has re-entered the Indian market after it left in 2013 following the termination of their marketing contract with Shreyans group. The Italian company will operate through Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India (FCAI) and will set up shop in three cities"New Delhi (AMP Motors), Mumbai (Bagga Luxury Motorcars) and Bangalore (Jubilant Autoworks Pvt Ltd)“in the third quarter of this year.

Bojan Jankulovski, newly appointed head of operations in India was quoted saying, “Driving a Maserati is like wearing a tailor-made suit in a world of uniforms. Our re-entry into the Indian market is a commitment to our customers as there is a definitive demand for exclusive luxury products, including cars, in the market. By entering India, and other new markets around the world, we are able to grow by expansion.” With 15 years of experience in the automotive field, Bojan Jankulovski established the brand in five markets in the Middle East and South East Asia in two years.

Maserati’s fleet in India will comprise of the 6th generation Quattroporte, the GranTurismo, the GranCabrio and the new Ghibli. The Ghibli, which rivals the 5 Series, the A6 and the E-Class is said to have sold 23,500 units globally in 2014. This 4-door sports sedan will be sold in India only with the turbo-charged 3-litre V6 diesel engine. The twin-turbo 3-litre V6 petrol engine sold globally is expected to reach us next year. The Quattroporte will be offered with the standard and GTS petrol engines and will be followed by the introduction of a diesel engine next year. Maserati will also launch the Levante SUV as well as the Alfieri Coupe in 2016. The company is targetting double digit sales in the Indian market. After the showrooms in the aforementioned cities, Maserati will set up shop in Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai and Ahmedabad by 2018.

  • Ghibli Diesel " Rs 1.1 crore

  • GT - Rs 1.8 crore

  • Quattroporte Diesel - Rs 1.5 crore

  • GT GranCabrio - Rs 2 crore

  • Quattroporte GTS - Rs 2.2 crore
