MRF Tyres and JA Motorsport have announced that the winner of the MRF FF1600 category in the 2016 MMSC-FMSCI National Racing Championship, will be awarded a full season in the 2016 MRF Challenge. The budget for a full season of the MRF Challenge ($ 50,000) will be taken care of by the organisers. The runner-up in the MRF F1600 category will win one race in the 2016 MRF Challenge.
The MMSC had also recently announced that the 2016 MRF F1600 champion would be sent for the Mazda Road to Indy shootout. The winner of that event gets a $ 200,000 scholarship to participate in the Verizon IndyCar Series and the Indianapolis 500.
JA Motorsport’s J Anand said, “We welcome the news from MRF Tyres confirming that the winner of the MRF FF1600 championship will get a free all-expense paid drive in the 2016 MRF Challenge. We are offering the opportunity for young drivers to participate with the best in Europe on circuits that host top international races like Formula 1 and WEC. We are not just helping drivers race, but we are providing the opportunity for them to climb up the motorsport ladder.”
The first round of MRF FF1600 championship will be held at the Madras Motor Racing Track (MMRT) from January 29-31 as part of the 2016 National Racing Championship. A test session for those who want participate in the 2016 season will be held at the Kari Motor Speedway, in Coimbatore, between January 11 and 12.
