Unending horror: 9-year-old gangraped in Silchar, throat slit

Silchar (Assam): Just as the country was trying to come to terms with the brutal gangrape of a 5-year-old in Delhi who needs a reconstruction surgery and the rape of a four-year-old in MP, which left her brain damaged, news of another gangrape has come in from Assam. Agencies.[/caption] According to a report on Times Now, a nine year old was gangraped by an unknown number of men. The girl was on her way to the local market in a village in Silchar district of Assam when she was abducted and gangraped. The incident occurred on Sunday evening when the girl was waylaid by a group of men and taken to a tea garden nearby. The men took turns to rape her and then tried slitting her throat to kill her. Villagers found the girl lying unconscious and bleeding in the tea garden in Katigora village. She was then rushed to the local district hospital where the doctors were attending to her. Reports suggest that the girl was bleeding profusely from the gash on her throat when she was brought in. Due to the the injuries and immense psychological trauma, the girl has not yet been able to give a statement to the local police. Following the incident, enraged villagers demonstrated before the local police station and demanded the perpetrators of the crime be arrested immediately and given exemplary punishment.
