Taslima Nasreen to Kiran Bedi: Who said what on CBI chief's rape remark

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) chief Ranjit Sinha has sparked a controversy by comparing the inability to implement anti-betting laws in sports to ’enjoying rape’ if it cannot be fought. “If you cannot enforce the ban on betting, it is like saying ‘if you can’t prevent rape, you enjoy it’”, Sinha said. “If we can have lottery in states, if we can have casinos at holiday resorts. If the government can declare schemes of voluntary disclosure for black money, so what’s the harm in legalising betting? Besides you’ll have enforcement agencies to look into it,” he said, adding that its easy to call for ban than to enforce it. The statement from the CBI director is absolutely outrageous,” said CPI-M leader Brinda Karat. Karat said that the CBI director should be prosecuted. “If the CBI director can trivialize rape, it gives a very wrong message. He has no right to continue in office,” Karat said. “He has made an insensitive comment. If the head is talking like this than he should resign,” said National Commission for Women chief Mamta Sharma. BJP’s Smriti Irani called the comment ‘absolutely disgusting”. Here are some more reactions on Twitter:
