Kashmir encounter: Two terrorists killed in exchange of fire in Bandipora district, operation still underway

Srinagar: An encounter between militants and security forces broke out on Sunday in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, police said. Two militants have been shot down by security forces so far, according to media reports. [caption id=“attachment_3408972” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Representational image. PTI[/caption] Security forces cordoned off the Mir Mohalla village in Hajin area of the district this morning following intelligence inputs about the presence of militants there, a police official said. When the forces were conducting the searches the militants opened fire on them, triggering a gun battle, the official said. The encounter was going on when reports last came in, the official said, adding that further details were awaited.
