In New York, PM Modi meets with Hasina, calls Bangladesh 'valued friend'

New York: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held a “productive meeting” his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina, in which the two leaders discussed bilateral ties. “Yet another productive meeting with PM Sheikh Hasina. We discussed India-Bangladesh ties,” tweeted Modi. [caption id=“attachment_2445012” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![Image courtesy: Twitter/Vikas Swarup](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Modi-hasina-twitter-vikas-swarup.jpg) Image courtesy: Twitter/Vikas Swarup[/caption] This is the third meeting between the two leaders in the recent months and came against the backdrop of settlement of the land boundary question. “After the business meeting, meeting with a neighbour and valued friend…,” the PMO tweeted along with a photograph of the two leaders shaking hands. “Dhaka, New Delhi and now New York. PM @narendramodi meets with PM Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh for a bilateral session,” tweeted External Affairs Ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup. Modi had visited Dhaka in June this year during which the two countries signed the historic Land Boundary Agreement to finally put an end to the 41-year-old border dispute. Modi had then also announced a fresh USD 2 billion line of credit for Bangladesh and promised quick implementation of the earlier line of credit of USD 800 million and the full disbursement of USD 200 million on the first day of his tour to the eastern neighbour.
