A man who allegedly molested an American woman by masturbating in front of her was arrested by the Mumbai police on Wednesday morning. Television reports said that he was arrested from his house in Colaba in South Mumbai on Tuesday night. Report said that he has denied the crime and claimed it was a misunderstanding. No further details were available about him. The woman, Maryanna Abdo, had tweeted out a photo of the man, after which the photo was widely shared on social media. She had said that the man ran away after she confronted him. She later lodged a complaint at the Colaba police station. Here’s what she had tweeted:
Later, the chief minister’s office responded to her allegation, as the CMO tweeted that he had directed Joint Commissioner of Police Deven Bharti to look into the matter. On Tuesday, the Mumbai police had registered an FIR in the matter and also recorded the woman’s statement, reported IBNlive.
