In a prime example of going too far with aggressive advertising, Flipkart recently sent out an email saying “beautiful women are more successful in their lives”. Image courtesy Flipkart website[/caption] In an email promoting the products for women on their website, the online shopping portal sent the following text in their email:
Did you know beauty breeds success? Research show that beautiful women are more successful in their lives. This is because when women improve their appearances, they get noticed, listened to and eventually respected for their opinion. Such women not only become confident but also remain motivated to perform even better in life.
As one might have expected, the email got a massive backlash on Twitter:
Wow. Really? "@hirishitalkies: Thanks for this piece of sexist shit email @Flipkart http://t.co/4Y1cHBKbma”

But not everyone is impressed and some users have also pointed out to other products on the website with similar inclinations.
Although Filpkart’s pointing out that research proves the given case is not false. Multiple research have indeed proved that “attractive people are usually hired sooner, get promotions more quickly, and are paid more than their less-attractive coworkers”. Yes, life can be unfair, but resorting to such tactics to increase sales is not the best (or the most ethical) way to go forward.
