New Delhi: A 24-year-old man was allegedly lynched by locals in outer Delhi’s Bawana area over allegations that he had broken into a property dealer’s house and stolen cash. Three alleged associates of the deceased, too, were thrashed by locals and are undergoing treatment at Maharishi Valmiki Hospital. Reuters.[/caption] The deceased, identified as one Mandeep, had been recently released on bail from a jail in Sonepat, police said. According to police, the incident took place late on Tuesday night after Mandeep and his three associates broke into a local property dealer’s residence and made away with Rs 2.4 lakh in cash. “The gang, which included Mandeep, Tillu, Naresh and Sachin, were caught by the locals at around 3 A.M. as they were trying to flee. Locals then thrashed the four youths through the night and police was informed only at 8 A.M,” said a police official, adding that Mandeep died during treatment after the four were taken to hospital. No arrests had been made in the case till late in the evening today as police were trying to verify the identities of those who were part of the mob which had attacked the alleged miscreants. PTI
