Simran trailer: You will fall in love with Kangana Ranaut's easy-breezy yet endearing character

Hansal Mehta’s upcoming film Simran starring Kangana Ranaut is a much awaited film and for many reasons — Ranaut as the lead makes it quite a watch and Mehta helming the project adds a huge weight of credibility in the story owing to his past records. [caption id=“attachment_3908325” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![Kangana Ranaut in Simran. Image via Twitter[/caption] The trailer of the film was launched on 8 August and it immediately intrigues you with its sheer simplicity — both in the story-telling and performance. Just like the  teaser , which released in May, the trailer takes you into the world of Ranaut’s character - Praful - in the film. She is a divorcee and wants to make it all on her own. The trailer opens with Praful describing her view of independence, where she says, “Ise imaarte rok nahi sakti, raaste baandh nahi sakte. Ye hawaa azaad hai.” That is the whole essence of the film, and also one of the striking characteristics of Praful — she is affable, yet wacky; she speaks with a strong Indian (not thoroughly Gujarati) accent, yet doesn’t shy away from passing cheesy pick-up lines at white men. She is seen in multiple looks — sporting blonde hair and a cowboy hat, dancing and whistling flaunting her signature curls, checking herself out in a mirror wearing a red bob cut wig and much more. The trailer also reveals that she has a “character flaw” of gambling and theft. And she is honest and open about accepting that, which is yet another endearing factor about Praful. In short, Simran brings you Rani from Queen inside-out in a very different way. You simply fall in love with Praful from the very first scene. Nothing seems to be (at least from the trailer), forcibly said or done. It seems to be a movie to be felt and experienced. Simran has mostly been shot in the USA. It has  been in the news recently  for it will be the last collaboration of Mehta and his writer-editor Apurva Asrani. They reportedly parted ways owing to creative differences, particularly after Mehta announced Ranaut as the co-writer of the film without consulting Asrani. It is co-produced by Bhushan and Krishan Kumar’s T-Series Films and Mehta’s Karma Pictures. It is slated to release on 15 September. Here’s the trailer:
