Akshay Kumar gave us a glimpse of his look from the upcoming sports biopic Gold and we must say, it has us intrigued to no end!
Directed by Reema Kagti, the movie is a biopic based on Balbir Singh, the celebrated hockey player who led India to victory in three consecutive Olympics in 1948, 1952 and 1956.
Kumar took to Twitter to share a photograph from the first day of shooting of the movie, asking his followers to wish him luck for his newest venture.
The first look is a monochrome image that features Akshay Kumar looking dapper as he dons a moustache. The actor is seen wearing a chequered waistcoat. A sling bag completes the ensemble.

Gold is the Rustom star and Excel Entertainment's first association together and it is led by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar. The movie also marks the Bollywood debut of famous television actor Mouni Roy of Naagin fame. Other members of the ensemble cast are Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh and Sunny Kaushal.
The shooting for the movie recently kicked off in the United Kingdom as the backdrop of the movie is set against the metropolitan city of London. Before the shooting kicked off in the UK, the cast of the movie had been receiving training from the former captain of the Indian hockey team, Sandeep Singh, among other coaches. The makers are currently said to be holding auditions abroad for local actors to play rival players in the film. Once the whole cast is finalised, the actors will return to a strict training regime under an international coach, according to reports.
Since Gold is a patriotic sports drama, it will bring to the screen independent India's first Olympic gold, thanks to the Indian hockey team in the 1948 London Olympics.
Kumar, whose Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is in its promotional stage, will join the cast of Gold this month. Kumar has also been cleverly integrating his patriotic sentiments with his films by releasing them on either Independence Day or Republic Day weekends. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is slated for an 11 August release. Gold, being no exception, will release on the 2018 Independence Day weekend.
The film is slated for release on Independence Day, 2018.
