Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy talked with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday and discussed the Russia-Ukraine war and the “conflicts between Israel and Palestine and the humanitarian crisis in the region”. “We discussed the next round of negotiations on the Peace Formula, which will take place in Malta. Turkey will participate, adding its authoritative voice and position,” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram.“We also discussed the situation in the Middle East and agreed on the need to ensure the protection of civilians and respect for humanitarian law,” he added. The Mediterranean island of Malta announced Friday it would host a round of Ukraine peace talks on October 28-29, after similar meetings in Jeddah and Copenhagen earlier this year. Russia is not expected to take part in the talks, which Zelenskyy hopes will rally support for his own peace plan.
