Zara Phillips gives birth to baby girl: Buckingham Palace

London: Queen Elizabeth II’s granddaughter Zara Phillips on Friday gave birth to a girl, the second royal baby to have arrived within months. The baby, 16th in line to the throne, weighs 7 pounds, 12 ounces (3.5 kilograms), Buckingham Palace said. Reuters[/caption] Zara’s husband, rugby player Mike Tindall, was present at the birth of their first child at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and the families of both parents have been informed and are said to be delighted at the news. The baby girl arrives five months after Prince George was born to Zara’s cousin Prince William and his wife Kate. Zara, 32, and Mike were married at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh in July 2011. The new arrival is the third grandchild of Princess Anne and the Queen and Prince Philip’s fourth great-grandchild. “The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Mike’s parents, Mr Phillip and Mrs Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news,” the Queen’s press secretary was quoted as saying by BBC. “The baby’s name will be confirmed in due course,” the Secretary said. “Many congratulations to Zara and Mike Tindall on the birth of their baby girl,” Prime Minister David Cameron tweeted. Zara does not hold a royal title and is not referred to as Her Royal Highness. Her daughter will be known as Miss Tindall. The new parents met during England’s Rugby World Cup-winning campaign in Australia in 2003. Zara has achieved sporting success in her own right winning individual gold in three-day eventing at the World Equestrian Games in Germany in 2006. PTI
