What does it take to be the envy of the world? Clearly marrying the future heir to the British throne isn’t going to cut it these days. There’s no better example of Diana’s enduring legacy – and the damage she’s wreaked on the image of royal privilege – than a new survey that shows nine of ten British women don’t envy her future daughter-in-law’s ascendance to royalty. Their number one reason: Forty four percent pity her for never being able to live an ordinary life, 18 percent point to the burden of increased public scrutiny, and ten percent cited the blinding glare of media attention.
