White House on lockdown after shots fired nearby, Obama off site | Reuters

WASHINGTON The White House was put on lockdown on Friday after shots reportedly were heard nearby while President Barack Obama was away at Andrews Air Force Base, officials said.

Someone was reportedly shot in a area to the west of the White House, and police and ambulances were on the scene, according to media reports. White House reporters are currently sequestered in the press briefing room and have not been allowed to go outside the West Wing to Pennsylvania Avenue.
