US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has warned that his team will “deliver whatever President Donald Trump expects of it” should Iran pursue nuclear capabilities.
“When President Donald Trump said, ‘Iran won’t have a nuclear bomb,’ he meant it… With Iran right now, you ensured they have all options to make a deal, they should not pursue nuclear capabilities, or we will be ready to deliver whatever this President expects of the War Department,” Hegseth said.

Trump has once again said on Truth Social that a “massive armada is heading towards Iran with great power, enthusiasm, and purpose.” The president stated that the fleet, led by the Aircraft Carrier Abraham, is larger than the one deployed in Venezuela.

‘No one knows who will take over’
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has warned lawmakers that the potential fall of Iran’s ruling regime would trigger a succession crisis, admitting that “no one knows” who would fill the resulting power vacuum.
He detailed a power structure fractured between the Supreme Leader, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and various “quasi-elected individuals” who ultimately lack the authority to make major moves without clerical approval.
“That’s an open question," Rubio told the committee. “No one knows what would take over."
