Imagine you’re flying a small ultralight plane and 30 seconds after your takeoff you notice a tiny cat clinging on for her dear life. That’s exactly what happened to the plane’s pilot – Romain Jantot from Kourou, French Guiana – who posted the video on YouTube of the cat clutching on the plane’s wing.
So far this video has been viewed more than 4 million times. The cat first appears at 0:38, but it takes another 20 seconds for the pilot to notice it. And his stunned expression is hilarious. The passenger sitting next to Jantot happily flies without taking any notice to the cat who looks extremely comfortable in a position which many might deem risky!
Jantot manages to keep his cool and tries really hard to not get freaked out. It only takes about 90 seconds for the French pilot to land again and remove the said cat. Jantot, in an email, told the Star that he has known the cat for many years. She’s the unofficial “mascot” of his flying club - Le club Ultra Léger Motorisé in Kourou.
One notices in the video that Jantot initially doesn’t pay much attention to the cat, who is perched on the wing of the plane but that’s only because he was afraid the cat would recognize him and jump into his lap mid-flight, Jantot said.
But this isn’t the only cat going for unauthorised joyrides. The Inquisitr over the weekend reported on the story of a tabby cat who got trapped in a shipping container and traveled 2,200 miles over a period of three weeks, all the way from Cyprus to the UK.
