In a remark that stunned the masses, Nato chief Mark Rutte called US President Donald Trump “daddy” publicly.

In public remarks beside Trump, Rutte defended Trump dropping the f-bomb on Israel and Iran and said “daddy” has to what he has to do.

The two leaders were engaging in the Nato Summit at The Hague, Netherlands, when Rutte called Trump daddy. Even as Europe faces the worst security crisis since the World War II from the Russian aggression, the summit has been reduced to an exercise to appease and placate Trump who has signalled withdrawal of US security commitments to the continent under the collective defence principle.

After Trump spoke about how he brokered the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, Rutte said, “And daddy has sometimes to use strong language to get them to stop.”

As Israel and Iran continued to exchange missiles despite agreeing to the ceasefire, Trump slammed the leaders of both the countries and on Monday and used the f-word for them.

“We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the fuck they’re doing,” said Trump.

Referring to his comments beside Rutte, before the Nato chief called him daddy, Trump said, “They’ve [Israel and Iran] had a big fight like two kids in a school yard. You know, they fight like hell. You can’t stop them and let them fight for about two-three minutes. Then it’s easy to stop them.”

After Rutte called him daddy, Trump further said, “You sometimes to have to use strong language. Every once in a while, you have to use a certain word.”

Rutte has been criticised lately for appeasing Trump by heaping praises on him and reducing the Nato Summit to an appeasement platform. By all indications, the summit this time was largely about Nato members pledging hiking their defence spending to 5 per cent of their GDP in the coming years. For years, Trump has bashed Nato and Nato members for not doing enough for the collective defence and for purportedly piggybacking on the United States for security.
