Watch: Why Simpsons' Groundskeeper Willie wants freedom for Scotland

Scotland has voted on a referendum for independence from the United Kingdom and while the counting has begun with early results coming in, one of the most famous Scotsman has a message on the whole independence idea.

Of course, we're talking about Groundskeeper Willie from The Simpsons. Watch the video above to see why Groundskeeper Willie is rooting for Scottish independence.

He puts out both sides of the argument quite nicely. According to Willie, the two sets of people in this campaign: "freedom-loving high-elves" and "those who like crawling like worms beneath British Boots."

And yes Willie is all for independence. He also points out that Scotland is rich in oil reserves and it's noteworthy that in no country rich in oil, did the men wear pants. He adds, "We make a fine damn whisky and we spell whisky right."

So who should lead the new free Scotland? According to Willie, it should be him. And he has good reason to support his cause as he points out, "I've lived in America most of my life and I've seen firsthand how not to run a country."
