Channel 4 reporter Jon Snow’s latest video from his visit to Gaza showing the harsh realities of the Israeli offensive has been getting a lot of response on social media. Even for Snow, the visit to Gaza has clearly had a strongly emotional impact. The video showcases how children form the biggest casualties of the war which has been going on for about 20 days. He highlights how one child has been left crippled while another’s eyes are swollen ’like a panda’, thanks to a cracked skull. Snow also points out that while Hamas’s rocket attacks have been effectively blocked by the Jewish nation which has an advance shield system named ‘Iron Dome’ due to the support from the US. Snow, who seems greatly effected by the violence and deaths that he has seen calls for an end to the violence, and points out that while so far a 166 children have died, and over a 1310 wounded, the number of children dying is growing. We have to know that in some way everyone of us shares some responsibility for those deaths because for us there is no priority whatsoever to stop it. Our United Nations, our government, our world is not that interested. The fact that you’re watching this, that you’ve chosen to watch this, means you’re motivated to do something… We cannot let it go on. If our reporting is worth anything, if your preparedness to listen and watch and read is anything to go by, then together we can make a difference. Snow’s video has also got a support online with a lot of people saying that it was a must-see video.

More ShortsThe video is another powerful reminder of the way the violence has been raging on in Gaza. The death toll in Gaza has crossed hit 1060 and is expected to rise. Meanwhile the UN Security Council agreed on a statement on Sunday calling for “an immediate and unconditional humanitarian ceasefire” in the Gaza war between Israel and Hamas and scheduled a meeting at midnight to adopt it. As Jon Snow’s video shows, the UN statement has come far too late to save the lives and health of the many children in Gaza.
