US President Joe Biden has said that America’s support for Israel “is in line with international humanitarian law” and that the US will continue to provide aid to the civilians of Gaza. Biden’s comment came during two separate meetings with the leaders of Chile and the Dominican Republican in the White House. Earlier this week, Chilean President Gabriel Boric condemned Israel’s bombardment of Gaza and recalled his envoy to Israel. “These Hamas attacks are without justification, they deserve global condemnation, but the response by Benjamin Netanyahu’s government also deserves our clearest condemnation," Boric told reporters after he met with Biden. ‘Will not create conditions to support Israel’ Meanwhile, US Vice President Kamala Harris, during a visit to London, was asked by reporters if the US administration should condition military aid for Israel. “We are going to continue to stand with Israel’s right to defend itself. And let’s be clear and never forget what happened on October 7th, where hundreds, thousands of — 1,400 innocent people were killed, slaughtered — young people who were simply attending a concert,” Harris answered. She added, “And so, we are not going to create any conditions on the support that we are giving Israel to defend itself.” ‘Will discuss steps to minimise civilian deaths’ US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who is on his way to Israel, said that his second trip to the region would focus on steps to minimise civilian deaths in Gaza. “We will be talking about concrete steps that can and should be taken to minimize harm to men, women, and children in Gaza, and this is something that the United States is committed to,” he said.
