Washington: A newspaper is reporting that the US is sending military aircraft as well as an increased number of special operations forces to Uganda to assist in the search for fugitive African warlord Joseph Kony.
The Washington Post says the US is sending at least four CV-22 Osprey aircraft to help in the hunt for Kony. He is also sending about 150 more Air Force special operations members and airmen to assist local forces in their long-running battle against Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army.
President Barack Obama sent about 100 US troops to help the African forces in 2011.
The LRA is accused by the United Nations and human rights groups of killing and mutilating innocent civilians and kidnapping thousands of children, forcing them to be soldiers and sex slaves.
