US President Donald Trump is set to reverse his earlier decision to halt military aid and intelligence support for Ukraine after a final appeal from UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, The Hill reported.
After a public spat between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House, the US paused military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine.
According to a Mirror UK report, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke with Donald Trump for about 20 minutes before planned peace talks in Saudi Arabia. He urged Trump to restart intelligence-sharing and military aid for Ukraine.
Meanwhile, UK officials have been working behind the scenes to help Ukraine meet US conditions for resuming support. A Downing Street spokesperson said the prime minister was hoping for a “positive outcome” from the talks.
“The Prime Minister said he hoped there would be a positive outcome to the talks that would enable US aid and intelligence to be restarted,” the spokesperson said.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed cautious optimism ahead of the upcoming peace talks in Saudi Arabia. “I think the notion of the pause in aid, broadly, is something I hope we can resolve. Obviously, what happens [today] will be key to that,” Rubio said.
This is a developing story.
