US, China to accelerate efforts for UN resolution on North Korea, says US Secretary of State

Beijing, China: The US and China will mount an "accelerated effort" to reach agreement on a new United Nations resolution on North Korea, US Secretary of State John Kerry said on Wednesday, after Pyongyang's fourth nuclear test earlier this month.

The top US diplomat said the two Security Council permanent members would "work together to try to achieve an understanding about a strong resolution that introduces significant new measures to curtail North Korea's ability to advance its proscribed nuclear ballistic missile programmes".
