Donald Trump, during his telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi after his win in the 2024 US Presidential election, described the Indian leader as a magnificent man and said that the “whole world loves Modi”.

PM Modi was one of the first leaders to call Trump after his triumph in the 2024 US election over Democrat nominee Kamala Harris on Wednesday (November 6).

‘Whole world loves Modi’

A report by PTI quoted official sources, with knowledge about the call between the two leaders, as saying that during the conversation Trump specifically mentioned that the ”whole world loves Modi”.

Modi calls Trump to congratulate on his ‘spectacular’ win

On Wednesday, soon after the US Presidential election result showed Trump’s lead over Harris in the race to the White House, PM Modi dialed US President-elect Trump to congratulate him on his “spectacular” victory.

During his conversation, PM Modi said he looked forward to working together with Trump again to further strengthen India-US relations across technology, defence, energy, space and other sectors.

The sources informed that PM Modi also congratulated Trump on the performance of his Republican Party in the US Congressional elections. Also, both the leaders affirmed that they would work together for world peace.

‘Looking forward to working closely again’

After the conversation, PM Modi shared a post on X, in which he said: “Had a great conversation with my friend, President Donald Trump, congratulating him on his spectacular victory. Looking forward to working closely together once again to further strengthen India-US relations across technology, defence, energy, space and several other sectors.”

“Together, let’s work for the betterment of our people and to promote global peace, stability and prosperity,” PM Modi said.

The Indian Prime Minister also shared pictures of his previous meetings with Trump, who was the US president from 2016 to 2020.

Ahead of elections, in October this year, Trump had praised PM Modi as “the nicest human being”, saying the Indian leader is “a friend of mine”.

The comment was made by Trump in response to a question during the Flagrant podcast.

“Modi, He’s a friend of mine. He’s great… Before him, they were replacing them every year. It’s very unstable. He came over. He’s a friend of mine. But on the outside, he looks like he’s your father. He’s the nicest, but he’s a total killer,” Trump had said.

Trump had also recalled PM Modi’s 2019 visit to Houston for the ‘Howdy Modi’ event, saying: ”It was beautiful. It’s like 80,000 people going crazy. We were walking around…”

The ‘Howdy Modi’ event was followed by Trump’s 2020 visit to India, where he was welcomed with the ‘Namaste Trump’ rally, organised by PM Modi in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad, with about 1,00,000 people attending the event at a cricket stadium.
