Days after winning the 2024 US presidential elections, President-elect Donald Trump said that he will not ask former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and ex-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to be part of his administration again. The business-mogul-turned politician confirmed the news on Saturday on his social media platform Truth Social.

Trump made it clear that both Haley and Pompeo will not be invited to re-enter the White House in January 2025. Haley who served as the US ambassador to UN under the first Trump administration, ripped Trump when she was contesting against him for the GOP nomination. Meanwhile, Pompeo was accused by several Trump supporters for not backing the former president strongly during the 2024 electoral race.

“I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley, or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to join the Trump Administration, which is currently in formation,” Trump wrote in the post. “I very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously, and would like to thank them for their service to our Country. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” he added.

Trump prepares his team behind closed doors

Soon after winning the elections against Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump and his team have been working behind closed doors at Mar-a-Lago to staff the 47th president’s administration. Given how some of his erstwhile allies betrayed him the last time, Trump’s team will now consider loyalty as a major factor.

Earlier this week, Trump named Susie Wiles to be his White House’s chief of staff. Wiles, who was the campaign manager in Trump’s 2024 bid to the White House, supported him during his 2016 and 2020 campaigns as well.

“Susie Wiles just helped me achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history, and was an integral part of both my 2016 and 2020 successful campaigns,” Trump said in a statement. “Susie is tough, smart, innovative and is universally admired and respected," he added. The 78-year-old Republican firebrand is now surrounded by new allies who could fill his cabinet, staff his White House and take up other key roles across government. Names of Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Robert F. Kennedy Jr are also popping up after Trump confirmed that they will be part of his team.
