As the race for the White House intensifies, former US President Donald Trump continued with his anti-immigration rhetoric as he addressed a rally in the battleground state of Wisconsin. The former president gave his provocative speech in the small community of Prairie du Chien, where a Venezuelan entered the US illegally and was detained in September.
The illegal immigrant was accused of sexually assaulting a woman and attacking her daughter. Capitalising on this case, Trump wrongfully claimed that immigrants in the US are violent criminals and often referred to the undocumented community as “stone-cold killers”, “monsters” and “vile animals”.
While the Republican presidential nominee delivered his remarks, he was flanked by posters of illegal immigrants in the US, who have been arrested for murder and other violent crimes. The banners at the event stated “End Migrant Crime” and “Deport Illegals Now”. It is pertinent to note that immigration and the border crisis in the southern states of the US are top issues of the 2024 US Presidential race between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump calls Harris ‘mentally disabled’
Trump’s address in Wisconsin came a day after Harris paid a visit to the US-Mexico border for the first time in her 2024 presidential campaign. While addressing a charged-up gathering, Trump took insults against Harris up a notch, calling him “mentally disabled” and “mentally impaired”.
The business-mogul-turned politician went on to blame Harris and US President Joe Biden for allowing undocumented immigrants to enter the US. He also accused some immigrants of wanting to “rape, pillage, thieve, plunder and kill the people of the United States of America”. At one point Trump even admitted that his address was “dark”.
“There’s no greater act of disloyalty than to extinguish the sovereignty of your own nation right through your border, no matter what lies she tells,” he said. “Kamala Harris can never be forgiven for her erasing our border, and she must never be allowed to become president of the United States and Wisconsin,” he added.

It was supposed to be a compilation of Harris’s comments about immigration policy. “She is a disaster, and she’s not going to ever do anything for the border,” he said after the video. “She’s incompetent and a bad person.”
“She’s a Marxist,” the former president lamented.
Vance continued with the jabs
After Trump was done with the barrage of insults, his VP pick JD Vance continued with the attacks on Harris while he gave a provocative speech in Newton Pennsylvania. “The problem with Kamala Harris is that she’s got no substance,” the Ohio Senator exclaimed. “The problem with Kamala Harris is that she’s got no plan. And the problem with Kamala Harris is that she has been the vice president for three-and-a-half years and has failed this country.”
Without giving any proof, Vance went on to claim that Harris played a “crucial role” in worsening the economy by exacerbating inflation. He eventually linked the country’s economic struggles to worsening immigration, blaming Harris for what he describes as an “invasion” amid a lack of border control. Vance finally claimed that the presence of immigrants in the US is contributing to rising housing costs.
