After lashing out at Kamala Harris and journalists for fact-checking him, Donald Trump has turned to his next foe: Taylor Swift.
After the pop star endorsed Harris following the Tuesday’s presidential debate, Trump said Swift will “pay a price for her endorsement”.
In a post on Instagram, Swift said that she would vote for Harris because “she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them”.
“I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate Tim Walz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades,” said Swift in the post.
In a post-debate interview with Fox News, Trump said that Swift will “pay a price” for her endorsement.
“I was not a Taylor Swift fan. It was just a question of time. She couldn’t possibly endorse Biden… But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace,” said Trump.
In a swipe at Trump’s running mate JD Vance, who has been on tirade against women without children for years, Swift signed off her post on Instagram as “With love and hope, Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady”.

More ShortsVance has dubbed women who choose to not have children as “childless cat ladies” and has specifically named Harris as one. The comment has been seen as a sexist attack on women candidates and has been woven by the Harris campaign as an attack on women’s agency.
In a 2021 interview with conservative broadcaster Tucker Carlson, Vance said the United States was being run by Democrats, corporate oligarchs, and “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable too”.
“It’s just a basic fact —you look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC— the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children and how does it make any sense that we’ve turned our country over to people who don’t really have a direct stake in it?” said Vance.
